Lady Raiders to Face Kansas on Thursday in Kansas City

LUBBOCK, Texas – The seventh-seeded Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team will play Kansas in the first round of the Phillip's 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at Municipal Auditorium. The Lady Raiders' seventh-place regular season conference finish is the program's best finish in seven seasons.

The Lady Raiders (18-11, 7-11 Big 12) finished the regular season with a number of impressive milestones to continue second-year head coach Marlene Stollings' turnaround of the program. Tech's 18 overall wins and seven conference wins are the most the program has tallied in a season in seven years. Texas Tech also tallied two sweeps of Big 12 foes for the first time in seven years.

Texas Tech picked up its first win at Iowa State in 18 years last month, and finished off the regular season with the program's first win at Oklahoma in 15 years on Saturday. Additionally, the team recorded multiple 100-point showings in conference games for the first time in 26 years.

The Lady Raiders were one of nine teams in the entire country to reach the New Year undefeated, and finished the nonconference schedule undefeated for the first time in eight seasons and the fourth time ever.

All spectators beginning at age two must have a ticket to enter the arena. One session will be played on Thursday night with two sessions on Friday and one session each on Saturday and Sunday.
