Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). This is something that I've been keeping incredibly close to my heart. We may not understand why everything is happening, but I know for me, I will keep living my life setting my mind on things above.
Â
Being home in March is unbelievable for me. I decided to get a job at a grocery store to get my mind off things to keep me active and super busy. It is a totally different perspective than being on the outside. I like it because it keeps me on my toes. Being able to take care of people makes me feel useful. This is also a great time for me to keep my grades up and be productive on things other than softball.
Â
I miss everything that the game of softball has given me. All the smiles and memories just disappear and it makes my heart heavy. I was looking forward to all the TikToks, the wins and seeing my teammates succeed on and off the field. I am thankful that the NCAA will be giving athletes their eligibility back. This period of time will forever be a big part of history and will never be forgotten.
Â
Knowing that we were supposed to be playing Texas this weekend upsets me because we were all prepared and thrilled for this series. It would have also been the first time I would've seen my family in months. We may not have expected our season to end this way, but God has a plan for us.
Â
I want to spend this time focusing on myself, enjoying the little things in life and reminding myself to never take anything for granted. To take one more ground ball, one more swing and play always like it's your last time to tie your cleats up.
Â
Softball is a game we all love. It is not a goodbye, it's a see you later. Enjoy this time with your family, fill your buckets up and let this situation set your soul on fire. Stay safe and healthy. Pey-Pey out!
