ATLANTA, Ga. – Former Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball standout Brittany Brewer made her first WNBA roster on Tuesday, and will suit up for the Atlanta Dream later this summer.
Â
Brewer was selected 17th overall by the Dream in the second round of the 2020 WNBA Draft, becoming the first Lady Raider draft pick in 14 years and the highest in 17 seasons.
Â
An Abilene, Texas, native, Brewer proved herself as one of the best players in the country during her senior season, and was the only player in Division I women's basketball to average better than 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks per game.
Â
Brewer was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press, Women's Basketball Coaches Association and U.S. Basketball Writers Association. She was the program's first All-American in 14 seasons.
Â
She broke the school record for blocks in a season with 127, averaging 4.4 on the year to rank second in the country and first among Power Five players. The senior had a career high 15 double-doubles on the season to rank fifth in the Big 12 and 22nd among NCAA DI players.
Â
This season marks the organization's 13th season in the WNBA. The league is conducting ongoing scenario planning around the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the upcoming season and will provide updates regarding any changes to key dates
