Scott Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America®

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech golfer Sandy Scott has added another prestigious honor to his collection after being named to the 2019-2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I At-Large Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Scott has also earned PING All-America, Golfweek All-American and GCAA Scholar All-American honors in the past month after a stellar senior season where he helped the Red Raiders to a No. 3 national ranking and an individual national ranking of No. 16 by Golfstat. A Nairn, Scotland native and Political Science major at Tech, Scott opened his season with a win at The Carmel Cup and recorded three top-10 finishes He finished fifth at the Tavistock Collegiate and earned three match play victories to help Texas Tech to the 2019 Big 12 Match Play Tournament title. Scott earned CoSIDA Academic All-District the past two seasons and is a two-time GCAA Scholar All-American.
Scott, who finished the shortened season with a 70.5 stroke average, is joined by Texas Tech's Bjorn Thomson who earned Second Team honors representing the Red Raider tennis program.
Merrimack College lacrosse senior attacker Charlie Bertrand and University of Kentucky senior swimmer Asia Seidt headlined the 2019-2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Men's and Women's At-Large teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
No less than 31 of 46 members of the 2019-2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Men's At-Large teams have at least a 3.90 GPA, with 20 student-athletes maintaining a 4.00 GPA as either undergraduate or graduate students. The 16 members of the first team (which was expanded due to ties in the voting) have an average GPA of 3.96.
In addition to Bertrand, the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Men's At-Large teams feature 11 other repeat performers including Adam Brubacher (RIT), Phil Gross (Brown University), Daniel Hein (University of Missouri), Miki Jauhiainen (Brigham Young University), Eric Knowles (North Carolina State University), David Koenders (West Virginia University), Jannik Opitz (Western Michigan University), Scott Piper (Michigan State University), Coley Sullivan (Brown University), Conor Gaffney (Lehigh University) and Edwin Hookenson (Minnesota State University, Mankato). Lehigh's Gaffney joins Bertrand as a three-time selection.
