GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday its picks for Academic All-America. Representing Texas Tech on the Second Team is Kaylee Hinton, who is celebrating her first career Academic All-America recognition.
"Kaylee is easily one of the hardest working people I've ever coached," said Associate Head Coach James Thomas. "She embodies the distinction of a student-athlete. Her competitiveness is unmatched, and her high level of academics is simply another task she pursues relentlessly."
Hinton, a redshirt senior multis athlete, is a mass communications student at Tech who held a perfect 4.0 grade-point average for the season term. The Rockwall, Texas, native was this week named an All-American by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the third time in her career. Hinton's award comes after qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the pentathlon in a shortened indoor season. She rounded out her indoor season with a runner-up performance in the pentathlon at the Big 12 Championships after recording a Tech conference title-meet record 4,105 points.
