Lady Raider Basketball Mourns Passing of Michelle Thomas

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball program is mourning the news of the passing of former Lady Raider Michelle Thomas on Friday evening.

Thomas was a member of the Lady Raider basketball team from 1992-1996, and played on the legendary 1993 NCAA Championship team.

Along with being a part of the 1993 title run, Thomas was a part of four SWC Championships and two SWC Tournament titles during her time as a student-athlete in Lubbock, while helping the Lady Raiders to a 119-17 overall record.

"It is with great sadness that I share the passing of yet another Lady Raider teammate, Michelle Thomas," head coach Krista Gerlich said. "Michelle was one of the most vibrant personalities and competitive people I have ever met. It was so special to have her on our '93 team. She was so loyal and always had our backs. She is gone way too soon and will be truly missed. Lady Raider hearts are hurting today. Please keep her family and our Tech sisters in your prayers. Rest in peace to our sister. She will be missed."
