Petty Announces Signing of Metka Komac

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's tennis head coach Todd Petty announced the signing of Metka Komac to the Lady Raider tennis program on Thursday.

Komac, a Slovenian native, will join the Lady Raiders in the spring of 2021.

"We are excited to welcome Metka to the family," Petty said. "Her wealth of experience along with her desire to develop makes her a great fit here. Â She has the potential to do big things in the scarlet and black."

The 18-year-old has racked up two singles titles and three doubles titles during her time on the junior circuit, and has been ranked as high as No. 172 in the world on the ITF juniors rankings. She also has a career-high Universal Tennis Rating of 11.50.

Komac's singles titles include wins at the Nairobi International Junior Championships and the International Bavarian Summer Championships.

Komac's three doubles titles came from outstanding showings at the Patuju Junior Open, Nairobi International Junior Championships and the AS Open along with a number of finals appearances.
