Gray, Thomas to Attend Big 12 Basketball Tipoff Event

The Lady Raiders will appear at the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Tipoff on October 19 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City
LUBBOCK, Texas – Lady Raider basketball head coach Krista Gerlich has tabbed senior guard Vivian Gray and senior forward Taylah Thomas to represent Texas Tech at the Big 12 Women's Basketball Tipoff event on October 19 in Kansas City.
Gray, a three-time All-America selection, announced her return to Lubbock for her final season of eligibility back in March. The Argyle, Texas native led the Red Raiders in points, rebounds, steals and blocks and was second in assists on her way to a First Team All-Big 12 selection.
Thomas enters her first season with the Lady Raiders after transferring from Arkansas where she helped the Razorbacks to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2020-21. Thomas was a regular fixture in the Razorbacks' lineup that won 19 games last season, including upsets over No. 4 Baylor and No. 3 UConn.
The Big 12 Basketball Tipoff Event will be held at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City after a yearlong absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gerlich, Gray and Thomas will meet with journalists and news media outlets from all over the country including ESPN, Turner Sports, SiriusXM, T-Mobile, the WNBA and more. Big 12 basketball media day will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ as well as ESPNU withh the women's show running from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. CT.
