Gray lands on Naismith Awards watch list

It’s the third major trophy watch list Gray has been named to this season
LUBBOCK, Texas –Senior guard Vivian Gray was tabbed to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Awards watch list as one of the top 50 women's basketball players in the nation.

The list is comprised of 50 student-athletes as Gray was one of eight players that were represented from the Big 12. There will be 10 semifinalists named on Mar. 8, followed by four finalists on Mar. 24, all culminating with the winner being announced on Apr. 2.

Gray finished the 2020-21 campaign fourth in the conference in scoring (19.8 ppg), eighth in rebounding (8.2 rpg), 10th in field goal percentage (.438) and fifth in blocked shots (1.6 bpg). The Argyle native was the only power five player in the nation to average over 19 points, eight rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, garnering WBCA Coaches All-America Honorable Mention and All-Big 12 First Team Honors.

The Lady Raiders opened the 2021-22 campaign Thursday night with a 67-45 win over Southeastern Louisiana and return to the court Tuesday night to host Weber State at 7 p.m.
