Aberg Takes Lead Going Into Final Round of The Prestige

PALM SPRINGS, California – Texas Tech sophomore Ludvig Aberg is at 6-under-par through two rounds and will go into the final day of The Prestige with a two-stroke lead. Aberg shot 4-under on Tuesday at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West with four birdies and a bogey-free round.
The Red Raiders are in sixth place in the tournament after shooting 3-under on Tuesday to move up and are 14 strokes behind Pepperdine which leads the tournament at 8-under. Tech is current 6-over going into the final round with Arizona State and Arizona tied for second at 5-under. Markus Braadlie is at 1-over which has him in 29th after he has posted 71-72 – 143 through two rounds. The final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament is set for Wednesday.Â
A Sweden native with a 69-67 – 136 scorecard in the opening spring tournament, Aberg is No. 10 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and is looking to win his first collegiate tournament. His best finish as Red Raider came with a 10th place showing at the Colonial Collegiate in the fall, but he's coming off an individual win at the Jones Cup Invitational two weeks ago, competed in the Arnold Palmer Cup and also won a pair of professional tournaments back home in Sweden over the summer. He's currently only bogeyed one hole in the spring debut. David Puig (Arizona State) is in second at 4-under (64-74) followed by Jacob Skov Olesen (TCU) who is at 3-under with a 71-68 – 139 two-round card.
Tech freshman Baard Skogen shot 1-under on Tuesday and is now at 77-70 – 147, while sophomore Garrett Martin has carded a 76-72 – 148. Tech senior Kyle Hogan goes into the final round with a 77-76 – 153.
At The Prestige Individual Invitational, Carl Didrik Meen Fosaas is at 1-under through two rounds which puts him in 18th overall while JP Roller is 2-over after carding a 71 on Tuesday. Meen Fosaas has carded a 71-72 – 143 through two rounds and Roller has made 75-71 for his 146 total through 36 holes at the Coral Mountain Golf Club. Oklahoma State's Hazen Newman leads the individual tournament at 12-under after posting a 63 on Tuesday.
The Red Raiders will return from California to play their next two tournaments in Texas, starting at the Cabo Collegiate in San Antonio (March 1-3) ad the Texas Invitational (March 15-16) in Austin.
