Red Raiders Remain in Fifth Going Into Final Round

Tech improved by seven strokes Monday as three different Red Raiders shot even-par or better
LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 14 Texas Tech women's golf team remains in a tie for fifth place after combining to shoot 1-under-par Monday at the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate in Sarasota, Florida.

As a team, the Red Raiders improved by seven strokes in round two compared to Sunday's opener to share a tie for fifth place alongside Northwestern at 5-over for the tournament. The Red Raiders trail Big 12 counterpart Iowa State by seven strokes for fourth place entering Tuesday's final round.

Ole Miss remains atop the leaderboard at 13-under for the tournament following a 9-under card Monday that maintained a four-stroke lead for the Rebels over second place Oklahoma State. Georgia managed to jump four spots into third place with a tournament-low 11-under second round.

Cecilie Nielsen added another steady round, signing an even-par 72 card to move her up two spots to 13th place individually. Anna Dong also added an even-par round of her own as she sits in a tie for 17th, only one stroke back of Nielsen at 1-over for the tournament.Â

Sofia Garcia and Gala Dumez both sit in a tie for 21st overall as Dumez recorded her best round this spring with a 2-under 70 card that included a stretch of four birdies over nine holes. Garcia added a 1-over 73 score, while Amy Taylor rounded out the Tech lineup with a 2-over 74 round.

Tech will begin final round play early Tuesday morning with a 7 a.m. CT shotgun start. Live scoring will be available throughout the round via GolfStat.com.
