Baker Lands Big 12 Player of the Week Nod

The third-year sophomore hit .538 in the series win over No. 15 OSU
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech baseball's Dru Baker has been named Big 12 Player of the week, the league office announced Monday.

It's the first award of the season for the sophomore outfielder and second weekly honor in his career, claiming a Big 12 Newcomer of the Week nod as a freshman in 2019. He joins Jace Jung (March 8) as winners of the accolade this season.

Baker hit .529 during the four-game week, including a three-run home run last Monday against UConn that gave Tech a one-run lead in the seventh. The Tomball, Texas, native posted a multi-hit game in all four contests and led the Red Raiders with four RBI for the week.

In Tech's series win over No. 15 Oklahoma State, he hit .538 with a series-high seven hits, including an RBI double to open the scoring in the deciding third game.

Baker and the No. 6 Red Raiders return to action Friday at 6:30 p.m. to open a three-game series with South Florida at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
