Lady Raiders Win Fourth Straight

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis team won its fourth-straight match on Saturday afternoon, dropping No. 50 TCU, 4-3, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

The Lady Raiders (15-5, 6-1 Big 12) opened the match with a 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Metka Komac and Nell Miller struck first, defeating Tate Schoreder and Margaret Polk, 6-4, on three. Olivia Peet and Margarita Skriabina clinched the point with a 7-5 win on two over Isabel Pascual and Mercedes Aristegui.

In singles, after TCU tied the match at one apiece with a win on court two, the Lady Raiders ran off three-straight wins to clinch the match.

Komac snagged the first singles victory of the day, handling Margaret Polk, 6-3, 6-2, for her fourth-straight win. Komac is now 11-4 overall this season and 9-3 in dual matches.

Miller stretched the Lady Raider advantage to 3-1 win a straight-set win over Stevie Kennedy on court four. The win was the sophomore's 18th this season and moved her to 14-4 in dual matches.

Olivia Peet clinched the match, defeating Isabel Pascual, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, on court five for her 10th dual win of the season. Overall, Peet is an impressive 12-3 on the year.

After the match was decided, the Horned Frogs picked up a couple of wins on three and one to close the gap.

The Lady Raiders will be back home next weekend for a pair of top-10 matchups to wind down the regular season, beginning with a showdown against No. 2 Texas on Friday at 2 p.m.
