Big 12 Men's Golf Championship
Aberg Takes 4th at Big 12 Championship, Red Raiders Finish 5th

Aberg shot 1-under (71-72-66-70 – 279) at the 72-hole championship, making eagle on No. 17 to put pressure on the tournament leaders but ultimately finishing three behind Cole Hammer (Texas) who won the championship at 4-under with a final-round 67 on his card. Oklahoma State won the team title at 9-over, winning by one stroke over No. 1-ranked Oklahoma which finished at 10-over. The Red Raiders finished the championship at 29-over by posting 301-289-280-279 – 1149.
Texas Tech senior Kyle Hogan finished 19th individually at 11-over after shooting 2-over on Wednesday, while freshman Baard Skogen shot 12-over in his first conference tournament to finish 22nd overall. Sophomore Garrett Martin shot 1-over on Wednesday, finishing at 16-over for 35th on the leaderboard and senior Andy Lopez completed the four-round championship at 17-over which put him in 39th overall.
A sophomore from Sweden, Aberg earned All-Tournament honors for finishing in the top-10. He was in contention for the individual championship throughout the week and held the lead going into the final round. He would shoot even-par on Wednesday to finish at 1-under for the week. Aberg's final round included four birdies and the eagle on No. 17 to get to 2-under for the championship before a final-hole bogey bumped him back to 1-under. Hammer came into the final round tied with Aberg at 1-under but would shoot 3-under in the final round to claim the tile. Quade Cummins (Oklahoma) and Bo Jin (Oklahoma State) tied for second at 3-under with Cummins posting the low-round on Wednesday at 4-under, 66.
Aberg is No. 5 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and has now recorded seven top-10 and five top-5 finishes through nine stroke play events this season. He earned wins at The Prestige in February and also two weeks ago at the Thunderbird Collegiate in Phoenix.
UP NEXT: Teams and individuals participating in the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships will be announced as part of GOLF Channel's College Central coverage taking place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5. Regional play for the 2021 Division I Men's Golf Championships will be held May 17-19, with play taking place at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind., hosted by Ball State; Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla., hosted by Florida State; Championship Course at UNM in Albuquerque, N.M., hosted by New Mexico; Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma State; Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tenn., hosted by Vanderbilt; and Tumble Creek Golf & Country Club in Cle Elum, Wash., hosted by Washington. Three of the six regional sites will have 13 teams and 10 individuals competing, while three will have 14 teams and five individuals. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional site (six individuals total) will advance to the national championships at Grayhawk.
