Senior Day Brings Strong Marks From All Over

Texas Tech wraps regular season in fine fashion.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech honored a massive 24-student-athlete senior class Saturday in fine fashion. Five of those seniors set career bests, and multiple Red Raiders took the opportunity to ascent the national leaderboards.
Overall, five seniors recorded personal bests on their senior day. Peyton Ricks ran one each in the 100m and 200m, and 400m bests came from Sara Limp and Jadsia Warden. Josiah Macinnis PR'd in the 400m, running 47.97. The lone throws senior, Braden Darrow, PR'd in the shot put.
"What a great day," said head coach Wes Kittley. "I love honoring our Red Raider seniors, and I'm proud of the marks we had during the meet, too. Just a really good day. Proud of the team and we came out of it pretty healthy. Looking forward to giving them a couple days off and getting back to work and ready for Big 12s."
The track saw plenty of those good marks Saturday, especially within the sprints group.
"Today was a solid day," said assistant coach Calvin Robinson. "We've got things to work on and improve on, but it's always good when so many individuals put together a strong day. I'm looking forward to building on that as we go into conference."
Courtney Lindsey ran a career best in the 100m, timing 10.20. The time beats his previous record – a 10.33 set at Baylor in April – and ascends to 13th in the nation this season.
Lexye Price continued her incredible 400mH season with yet another personal best. This time, she clocked 57.41. It is the fourth-fastest time in program history. Price's launched her from 20th in the NCAA to eighth. She is now fourth in the West region.
All four Red Raiders running in the first heat of the 400m either PR'd or ran season bests in what was a huge day for the group. Sara Limp's career-best 52.18 moved her into the national top-20 and counted as the fourth-fastest time in school history. Also dipping below 53 seconds was Amanda Crawford, who timed a season-best 52.95. Jadsia Warden marked a big PR with a 53.72 to finish third. In fourth was Kiara Lester, whose 53.79 marked an outdoor best.
Peyton Ricks did something she's been doing all season long: ran a pair of PRs. Ricks used her senior day to double PR yet again, today in the 100m and 200m. Ricks' day began in the former, when she ran 11.47 to pace the Red Raider women. A little over an hour later, she ran the 200m in 23.45 for yet another career best.
The 800m brought more marks for the Red Raiders. Takieddine Hedeilli boarded a flight Saturday morning after running a fourth-ranked 1:46.84 in Kansas last night and came back to run another today at home. He ran 1:46.83 and finished first. In the winning effort, Hedeilli pulled Marco Vilca to a big personal best. Vilca's 1:47.59 not only marked a PR by sixth one-hundredths of a second but moved him into the national top-15 – a huge jump.
Joanna Archer once again PR'd in the women's 800m. Archer's time of 2:07.31 marks the first time she has gone sub-2:08. She has now ran a career best in each 800m race this season, and also has PR'd in the 400m and 1500m.
In the high jump, Jack Scarborough moved into the national top-20 with a career-best clearance of 7'-2.25" (2.19m). Scarborough's mark was a new best by three-quarters of an inch.
Ruth Usoro landed yet another program top-10 triple mark, Saturday jumping 45'-5.25" (13.85m). She has jumped over 45 feet all three times this season, including 47'-7" (14.50m) at the Masked Rider Open.
Gabe Oladipo put together a career series, throwing 18 meters three times – something he had done just once before and never outside. Oladipo's mark of 61'-11.5" (18.88m) moves him to second in the Big 12 and 16th in the nation. Alongside Oladipo was Braden Darrow, who threw a senior day PR of 57'-2.25" (17.43m)
Seasons Usual came within just an inch of her personal best in the discus. Usual, who sits fourth in the nation in the event, landed her top throw at 195'-9" (59.66m). Her PR – 195'-10" (59.70m) – came at the Masked Rider Open two weeks ago. It was the second time in her career she has thrown over 59 meters. Gabe Oladipo threw 183'-10" (56.04m) to complete the Tech sweep of the event.
Kayli Johnson won the women's shot with another throw of over 16 meters. She landed her top mark at 52'-8" (16.05m). She remains fourth in the Big 12 in the event.
A week off awaits the Red Raiders before the Big 12 Outdoor Championships on May 14-16 in Manhattan, Kan.
