Fulford a Semifinalist for the Buster Posey Award

Lubbock native one of 16 catchers from around the nation to make the cut
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Baseball's Braxton Fulford is one of 16 catchers to be named a semifinalist for the 2021 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award, the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced Thursday.

After being named to the watch list for the second straight year, the junior is a semifinalist for the first time in his career. He is one of two Big 12 players to make the cut.

The Lubbock, Texas native, is hitting .290 for the year with career-best numbers in nearly every offensive category, including home runs, RBI, doubles. He has been an integral part of one of the nation's top lineups, ranking second on the team in home runs, third in RBI and fourth in batting.

Fulford has long shown he is one of the top defensive catchers in the game as he makes receiving a dynamic pitching staff look easy. He also boasts one of the best arms behind the dish, throwing out 18 of 51 potential base stealers this season.
