Gray Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball standout Vivian Gray is one of five players to be voted onto the CoSIDA District 7 Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Thursday.

Gray, a graduate student, achieved a 4.0 GPA in her first semester of grad school at Texas Tech, while on the court also leading the Lady Raiders in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks on the way to honorable mention All-America honors and First Team All-Big 12 accolades.

Gray finished the season averaging 19.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.4 steals, reaching career highs in rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage (.438). She recorded eight double-doubles on the season and 13 games of 20 or more points to rank fourth in the Big 12.

The Argyle, Texas, native is the only Power Five player in the country averaging 19.5+ points, 8+ rebounds and 2.5+ assists this season, per HerHoopStats.com. She is one of two players nationally with those numbers--the other being Kierstan Bell of FGCU.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late May.
