Mahomes Tabbed for Madden Cover Again

Texas Tech great will be on the cover of Madden NFL 22 that will be released later this summer
LUBBOCK, Texas – EA Sports unveiled its official cover for Madden NFL 22 on Thursday, which features Texas Tech great Patrick Mahomes II for the second time already in his career.

Mahomes, who was also the cover star of the 2020 version of the highly-popular video game, shares the cover this year with Tampa Bay Buccanneers quarterback Tom Brady as the duo are the only two players in history to grace the cover multiple times. Brady was previously on the cover for Madden 18.

"Whenever you first get on the cover, that's a special moment," Mahomes told ESPN in an interview. "So to be on it again, twice, with an all-time great like Tom Brady, it's a special moment that I'm glad that I'm able to do so soon after I had done it for the first time. I'll be able to have it for the rest of my life and be able to show my kids and my kids' kids that I was on it two times."

Mahomes has been the highest-rated quarterback for the game console each of the past two years, sporting a 97 rating when he was on the cover for Madden 20 and then a perfect 99 rating last year. The ratings for Madden 22 will be released later this summer.

The rating matches with his play on the field as no quarterback in the NFL has likely generated more buzz in a such a short time than Mahomes, who has led the Chiefs to the Super Bowl each of the past two years with a victory to close the 2019 season. He is the youngest quarterback in NFL history to start in two Super Bowls.
