Baseball Sets Program Marks in Academic All-Big 12 Nods

Fulford, Masters highlight honors with 4.00 GPA
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech baseball matched its program record with 16 student-athletes on the 2021 Academic All-Big 12 teams, the league office announced Tuesday.

It marked the fourth consecutive season Tech has matched or topped its program record. Additionally, it established a new program mark with 13 Red Raiders on the first team.

First team honorees included: senior Connor Queen; juniors Braxton Fulford, Parker Kelly, Cody Masters, Easton Murrell, and Ryan Sublette; sophomores Dru Baker, Mason Montgomery, Eli Riechmann, and Cole Stilwell;Â and freshmen Jace Jung, Nate Rombach and Derek Bridges.

Fulford and Masters were among 10 student-athletes from around the conference that were nominated with 4.00 GPAs.

Rounding out the honorees were Dillon Carter, Micah Dallas and Max Marusak on the second team.

Four Red Raiders complete the Academic All-Big 12 sweep with their third-straight placements on the first team going back to their sophomore seasons in Fulford, Kelly, Masters and Sublette.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
