Beckie Earns Olympic Gold Medal

LUBBOCK, Texas – Janine Beckie has added Olympic Gold Medalist to her impressive list of accomplishments after helping Canada win its first Olympic gold medal in women's soccer, beating Sweden 3-2 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw. Beckie is now a two-time Olympic medalist after taking bronze in the 2016 Olympics.
A Texas Tech star from 2012-15, Beckie was a two-time All-America and four-time All-Big 12 First Team selection for the Red Raiders during her collegiate career. Beckie, who is the Texas Tech all-time leader with 57 goals and 22 game-winning goals, was named the Big 12 Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015 along with being tabbed the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2015.
Beckie scored a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over Chile in the group stage of the Olympics.
She was selected by the Houston Dash in the 2016 NWSL and currently plays for Manchester City in the FA Women's Super League in England.
