Red Raiders Open Maridoe Collegiate Play

CARROLLTON, Texas – Texas Tech will look to move up the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational leaderboard on Tuesday after opening the tournament by shooting 11-over-par on Monday which puts the team in ninth after the opening round at the Maridoe Golf Club.
Texas Tech will begin its second round at 12 p.m. on Tuesday in a pairing with Oklahoma and Wake Forest. The Golf Channel will have coverage of the tournament from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Â
Baard Skogen led the No. 9-ranked Red Raiders by shooting 1-over in the first of three rounds, while freshman Calum Scott shot 2-over. A sophomore from Norway, Skogen is tied for 13th on the leaderboard and Scott is tied for 20th going into Tuesday's round. Ludvig Aberg finished his day at 3-over, Garrett Martin at 5-over and Kyle Hogan shot 6-over. Hogan, the reigning Maridoe Collegiate individual champion, had two birdies in his round but also two doubles and four bogeys.
Oklahoma leads the Maridoe Collegiate at 2-over followed by Liberty (+3), Texas (+6), Arizona State (+6), Baylor (+7), Florida Gulf Coast (+9) and Texas A&M (+10). The Red Raiders and TCU are tied for ninth at 11-over-par through one of three rounds. The final round is set for Wednesday.
Aberg is No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and completed his round with three birdies and 13 pars. He took a quadruple on No. 11 and finished his day with a double on 18. Skogen leads the Red Raiders after making four birdies while Scott had three birdies, a double and three bogeys.
Liberty's Connor Polender leads the tournament at 4-under, followed by Frankie Capan III (FGCU), Cameron Sisk (Arizona State) and Chris Gotterup (Oklahoma) who are all at 2-under going into moving day on Tuesday.
