Skogen Moves Up to Fourth at Maridoe Collegiate

CARROLLTON, Texas – Texas Tech sophomore Baard Skogen is at 3-under-par and in fourth place at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational going into the final round after shooting 4-under on Tuesday at the Maridoe Golf Club. Skogen leads the No. 9 Red Raiders who are tied for fifth with Texas A&M at 14-over through two of three rounds at the tournament.
Skogen made six birdies during his round of 68 on Tuesday to surge up the leaderboard after carding a 73 during Monday's opening round. He's currently behind tournament leader Cameron Sisk (Arizona State) who is at 8-under, while Johnny Keeper (Baylor) is at 6-under and Parker Coody (Texas) is one ahead of Skogen. Arizona State leads the tournament at even-par in the team standings followed by Texas (2-over), Oklahoma (4-over) and Liberty (11-over).
Garrett Martin will go into the final round tied for 17th after shooting 2-under on Tuesday. A junior from San Antonio, Martin is 3-over for the tournament after making five birdies in his second round but falling back on the leaderboard by making bogey on three of his final four holes. Martin currently has a 77-70 – 147 scorecard.
Ludvig Aberg is at 8-over after posting 75-77 – 152 through two rounds which has him tied for 43rd, while Kyle Hogan is 10-over (78-76 – 154). Hogan, who is the reigning Maridoe Collegiate individual champion, was 3-under during his second round through six holes before falling back with four bogeys and a pair of doubles. He birdied No. 17 and finished at 4-over for his round. Texas Tech freshman Calum Scott will go into the final round at 11-over after posting a 9-over, 81 on Tuesday with six bogeys and two doubles. Scott shot a 74 on Monday.
The Red Raiders have four fall tournaments on their schedule with two more to play after returning from Carrollton. Next up is the Blessings Collegiate from Oct. 4-6 in Fayetteville, Arkansas before completing the fall at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament in mid-October at Houston Oaks.
