Skogen Rockets Up Carmel Cup Leaderboard

PEBBLE BEACH, California – Texas Tech sophomore Baard Skogen birdied his final three holes to shoot 5-under at The Carmel Cup on Saturday and moved up to fourth on the leaderboard through two rounds at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Red Raiders are at even-par and in fourth place as a team going into Sunday's final round in the season-opening tournament. Skogen leads Tech at 4-under going into the final round which has him four behind tournament leader Trent Phillips who is at 8-under for Georgia and two players at 6-under. Kyle Hogan and Calum Scott are both at even-par and in 17th on the leaderboard, while Ludvig Aberg is at 1-over and in 22nd. Garrett Martin was at 1-over on Saturday and is now at 3-over through two rounds and Alejandro Pedryc is at 12-over.
Texas Tech will begin teeing off for its final round at 10:10 a.m. (CST) with Skogen starting his final 18 holes at 11 a.m. (CST) in the final grouping. The Red Raiders are currently at even-par after shooting 357-363 in their first two rounds, while Oklahoma State leads the tournament at -13 after shooting -10 on Saturday. Oklahoma is second at 6-under and Georgia is fourth at 4-under.
Skogen recorded his 67 with six birdies and only one bogey in the second round after shooting a 73 on Friday. Skogen was even-par with seven straight pars to begin his day before running off birdies on 8, 10 and 11. He finished off the day with birdies at 16, 17 and 18 to move to 5-under on the day and into fourth on the leaderboard at 4-under.
Hogan and Scott both shot 3-under, 69s on Friday but followed with 75s on Saturday to move back to 17th overall. Aberg, who is No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, was at 1-under for his round before making a double bogey on his finishing hole to finish at 1-over.
