LUBBOCK, Texas – The 2022 Red Raider Baseball season will officially begin Thursday, Feb. 17, as the Red Raider Club and the Double T Varsity Club invite fans from across the globe to view the Texas Tech baseball program's Virtual First Pitch, featuring Head Coach Tim Tadlock.
The event begins at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+ and across the official Texas Tech Athletics' Twitter, Facebook and YouTube pages. The virtual offering replaces the annual preseason First Pitch event held in-person, as it did a year ago, out of health and safety protections due to COVID-19.
In addition to Coach Tadlock, fans will hear from junior pitcher Brandon Birdsell, sophomore infielder Jace Jung and senior utility man Kurt Wilson from this year's team. Alumni Braxton Fulford and Cam Warren also join the program, as well as Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt. The Red Raider Club Virtual First Pitch Auction launched on Feb. 10 and will conclude on Feb. 18. Throughout the show, fans will be encouraged to bid on the remaining items, which include a Josh Jung Autographed Bat, a Tim Tadlock Autographed Jersey, a team gear package and more.
The Red Raiders open their season the following day, Feb. 18, when they face Michigan at 7 p.m. at the State Farm College Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. For a complete calendar of the Texas Tech baseball schedule, visit www.TexasTech.com.
