Tech rises to No. 5 in Golfstat rankings

SAN FRANCISCO – The Texas Tech men's golf team has moved up to No. 5 in the Golfstat team rankings going into its return to competition next week at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational in Palm City, Florida.
Along with the statistical ranking, the Red Raiders are now at No. 6 in the Golfweek collegiate rankings and at No. 8 in the most recent Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. Tech has taken nearly a month off after finishing second at the Cabo Collegiate in Mexico during their third spring tournament at the end of February following a fourth-place showing at The Prestige and a runner-up finish in Hawaii at the Amer Ari.
Ludvig Aberg finished fifth at the Cabo Collegiate at 11-under after running away with the individual championship at The Prestige. A junior from Sweden, Aberg is No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Oklahoma is the top-ranked team in the nation according to the Golfstat rankings followed by Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, North Carolina and the Red Raiders. The updated rankings were announced on Tuesday.
Tech begins the Valspar Collegiate on Monday morning at the Floridian Golf Club.
