Nine Red Raiders earn Academic All-Big 12 Men's Golf honors

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's golf team has earned a conference-best nine selections to the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Golf Team. The Red Raiders are represented by Ludvig Aberg, Carl Didrik Meen Fosaas, Kyle Hogan, Andy Lopez, Garrett Martin, Alex Pedryc, Sandy Scott, Baard Skogen and Jayce Hargrove who each met or surpassed the academic criteria.
A total of 61 student-athletes were honored on the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Men's Golf Team with 49 first team and 12 second team selections.
Along with their academic success, the program his currently ranked No. 7 (Golfstat), No. 8 (GCAA) and No. 9 (Golfweek) going into this weekend where the team plays its final regular-season event at the Thunderbird Collegiate in Arizona.
Hogan and Scott were both nominated with 4.0 GPAs and are now five-time Academic All-Big 12 selections. Hogan is pursuing his MBA at Tech and was the NCAA Elite 90 winner, 2021 Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year and GCAA All-American Scholar last season. Lopez is now a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection while Martin and Aberg have earned the award two straight seasons.
Among those nominated, seven were recognized with 4.00 grade point averages: Meen Fosaas, Scott, Hogan, Harry Hillier (Kansas) and William Stakel (West Virginia). Tech was represented on the first team by Aberg, Meen Fosaas, Hogan, Lopez, Martin, Pedryc, Scott and Skogen while Hargrove earned second team honors.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
