Tech prepares for weekend tilt against No. 1 Oklahoma

The Red Raiders host the Sooners for the first time since 2019.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech (19-16, 2-4) hosts No. 1 Oklahoma (33-0, 3-0) Friday, April 8 through Sunday, April 10 at Rocky Johnson Field.
Saturday is Military Appreciation Day fans are encouraged to wear camo in support of veterans and active military. Fans will receive a free foam softball upon arrival while supplies last.

After earning their first Big 12 series win of the season last weekend against Kansas, the Red Raiders host the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners this weekend in Lubbock. Tech took two out of three from the Jayhawks for their fourth straight series win over Kansas.
Payton Jackson had a strong weekend, going 6-for-10 at the plate with a .900 slugging percentage and .692 on base percentage and four runs scored. Carson Armijo also recorded six hits and four runs while driving in three runs.
Oklahoma comes to town riding a 35-game win streak dating back to their national championship run last season. The Sooners lead the country in multiple offensive categories including scoring, averaging 9.44 runs per game with 27 run rule wins in 33 total games. Oklahoma has been held to five runs or less only five times this season.
The Sooners have dominated the series against Tech, winning 60 of the 67 meetings with a streak of 27 straight wins dating back to 2012 when the Red Raiders won a 5-4 contest in Norman. Tech is 1-25 at home against Oklahoma, the lone win coming on April 1, 2011, when the Red Raiders defeated the 14th-ranked Sooners 5-0 at Rocky Johnson Field.
The Red Raiders are seeking their second win over a number one ranked team in program history. Tech is 1-11 against top-ranked teams, the one win coming on March 7, 1998, in a 6-0 victory over #1 Arizona who finished the season as the national runner-up.
