Bucs rookie receiver Kaylon Geiger played on special teams in his NFL debut Sunday, and logged a single offensive snap -- they line up a player deep in backfield in victory formation, just to guard against a fumble. Geiger got to celebrate in that role on final snap Sunday. pic.twitter.com/7rGG1dqzRD

The Buccaneers activated Geiger from the practice squad on Saturday, Sept. 17, making him eligible to play in Sunday's game at New Orleans.
The NFL introduced the practice squad elevation option in 2020, which allows teams to activate up to two practice squad players for each game. By utilizing both options in Week Two, the Buccaneers increased their game day roster to 55 players for their Week Two matchup with the Saints. They were able to keep 48 of those active for the game, naming seven inactives prior to kickoff.
Geiger remained one of the active 48 and saw game action. He did not record a stat.Â
Each player on the practice squad can be elevated up to three times during the regular season and an unlimited amount of times in the postseason. After the game, elevated players automatically revert to the practice squad, as Geiger did on Sept. 19, without having to pass through waivers.
