Shavers earns Big 12 Freshman of the Week

For the second time this season, the guard was honored
IRVING, Texas – For the second time this season, freshman Jasmine Shavers has been selected as the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
The recognition is Shavers second of the season and comes following Bailey Maupin's honors last week. Shavers and Maupin have now gone back-to-back twice this season, becoming just the second set of teammates to earn back-to-back freshman of the week honors twice in a season in Big 12 Conference history.
For the week, Shavers averaged 10.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in two games. Against Mississippi Valley State, the guard scored a team-best 12 points in just 18 minutes. On Saturday against Iowa State, Shavers scored nine points, grabbed three rebounds and had a career-best three steals. The guard did not turn the ball over, as Texas Tech finished with a plus-10 turnover margin in a game for just the second time since 2014.
Shavers and the Lady Raiders head to Lawrence for a Wednesday night contest at No. 21 Kansas. The Jayhawks also earned a weekly honor this week, as forward Taiyanna Jackson was named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week.
Tip-off from Allen Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.
