LUBBOCK, Texas –Texas Tech Women's Tennis coach Dani Nasser has been promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach as announced by head coach Adam Herendeen on Thursday morning.
"Dani is an integral part of the culture and the program that we are building here at Texas Tech and she has certainly earned this promotion," Herendeen said. "Not only is Dani a fantastic coach, but more importantly, she is a great role model for our student-athletes, and we are very fortunate to have her as a Red Raider. The team and coaching staff have come a long way together, in a short time, and we are all eager for the Spring season to get here!"
Nasser has been an important part of the Lady Raiders' success over the past year and a half. Last fall, she aided the doubles team of Metka Komac and Cristina Tiglea to an ITA Texas Regionals runner-up finish and a spot in the ITA National Fall Championships.
Then in the Spring, Nasser helped coach a 14-win team who qualified for Tech's 11th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance dating back to 2012. In addition, two Lady Raiders – Olivia Peet and Avelina Sayfetdinova – earned All-Big 12 Second Team Singles, while the pairing of Sayfetdinova and Komac were named All-Big 12 Second Team Doubles and Big 12 Position Champions at the top court.
The Lady Raiders have kept their success going into the fall as the team totals 42 singles wins, 27 doubles wins, seven ranked singles wins among four players, multiple singles and doubles titles and yet another team qualifying for the ITA Fall Nationals.
Nasser helped coached Komac and Safetdinova to a regional doubles title and a quarterfinals run at nationals, then recently aided the doubles pair of Andreea Lila and Jermine Sherif to a doubles title at the Big 12 Fall Championships.
The Lady Raiders will begin their Spring slate on Jan. 21, 2024 with a home match against Liberty at the McLeod Tennis Center.
