Guards Bre’Amber Scott, Bryn Gerlich and Katie Ferrell were honored
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Lady Raiders were well represented on the 2022-23 All-Texas team, as guard Bre'Amber Scott took home Second Team All-Texas honors while teammates Bryn Gerlich (Honorable Mention) and Katie Ferrell (All-Defensive) were also honored, the publication announced Thursday.
A First Team All-Big 12 Conference selection, Scott evolved into one of the best scorers in the league this season, scoring in double figures in 21 games. The guard averaged 16.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game and scored over 450 (467) points this season. Scott had a pair of 30-point games including a career-best 37 against Kansas State back on Jan. 14 and eight 20-point games. Scott scored seven of her eight 20-point games in conference play including six straight 20-point outings (Jan. 4-18). Back on Mar. 9 against K-State, Scott reached 1,000 points for her career when she scored
Tech's second honoree, Gerlich, elevated her play during the second half of Big 12 play. Starting with a career-best 25-point performance at OSU, Bryn scored in double figures in six straight games. Over that span Gerlich scored 98 points (16.3). For the season, the OSU transfer scored 9.1 points per game and dished out 93 total assists. The guard scored 177 of her 274 points during Big 12 play where she averaged 10.4 points.
The third honoree, Ferrell, continued to stuff the stat sheet in her fifth and final year of college eligibility. The Plano native is one of two players since the 1999-00 season (Maya Moore) to record 600 points, 800 rebounds, 250 assists and 100 blocks. This season, Ferrell has 42 steals and 20 blocks. This season the Lady Raiders are 13-2 when Ferrell reaches three or more assists.
The Lady Raiders return to action on Friday night when they head to Arkansas for the Third Round of the 2023 WNIT. Tip-off from Bud Walton Arena is set for 7 p.m.
