Red Raiders are unscathed this spring at 3-0-1
LUBBOCK, Texas – Goalkeeper Madison White earned her fourth clean sheet of the spring as Texas Tech powered past New Mexico State, 1-0, in the final home spring match Saturday afternoon at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
The All-Big 12 second team keeper Madison White has held strong in net for the Red Raiders through all four spring matches. The graduate student has collected four straight shutouts.
Kaitlyn Giametta was the difference maker, scoring in the second half as the Aggies keeper looked to snag a service into the box from Macy Blackburn, but the ball landed at the feet of Giametta who fired it into the back of the net.
Tech looked to have taken the lead early in the matchup as Cassie Taylor knocked a header off a cross from Blackburn. The New Mexico State keeper made the save, but the rebound was perfectly placed for Giametta who punched it in but was called offsides.
Sam Courtwright also saw a solid opportunity late as the midfielder used her savvy footwork to break loose and create an attempt, but the shot was just a touch high.
The Red Raiders will close out their spring slate with a pair of matches down in Waco on Saturday, April 22. Tech will take on Baylor at noon, followed by a 1:30 p.m. matchup against Seminole State.
