The Red Raiders finish the spring season at 4-0-2
WACO, Texas – Texas Tech downed Seminole State, 1-0, after earning a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Baylor to end the spring season Saturday afternoon at Betty Lou May Field.
Â
The Red Raiders closed out the spring season with back-to-back matchups with Baylor and Seminole State. Both matchups consisted of two 30-minute halves.
Â
After falling behind within the first five minutes of the match against Baylor, Ashleigh Williams found the back of the net to even the contest at 1-1 midway through the first half. Tech would see a pair of chances off corners just before the break but wouldn't be able to convert.
Â
Freshman Storie Sexton created a pair of good looks right out of the gate in the second half, but it was Baylor that broke the tie with a goal. However, again Williams came up clutch in the late minutes, stealing the ball from the Bear goalkeeper to score and set up the 2-2 final.
Â
After a short 30-minute break, the Red Raiders took the field against Seminole State, again in two 30-minute halves.
Â
This time, it would be Tech who jumped on the board first as Sam Courtwright scored her second goal of the spring season just nine minutes into the first half. The Red Raiders would maintain possession for most of the first half, holding a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
Â
Madison White held Seminole State scoreless through the first 30 minutes before Madelynn Madden came in to complete the shutout in the second half.
