Tech, Aberg sit fifth after 36 holes of Calusa Cup

NAPLES, Fla. – Texas Tech senior Ludvig Aberg sits tied for fifth while the second-ranked Red Raiders also sit in fifth as a team following 36 holes of the Calusa Cup hosted by Iowa at Calusa Pines.
In tough conditions, the entire field struggled on Monday, as the lowest team score of the day was No. 1 Vanderbilts' score of 291 (+3).
After shooting an opening nine 40 (+4) that featured four bogeys and double, Aberg settled down on the back nine firing a bogey free even-par 36. The senior sits six shots behind individual leader Ryan Burnett of UNC who shot a one-under 71 on Monday. Burnett has a four shot lead heading into tomorrow third and final round.
In the end, just four of 45 players in the field shot below par during the second round.
Burnett's third-ranked Tar Heels lead the event at even par, followed by Wake Forest at +3. Vandy shot the aforementioned team score of +3 to sit at +7 for the week. No. 5 Arizona State is +11 for the week, six shots ahead of Tech.
Georgia (+20), Ohio State (+28), Purdue (+38) and Iowa (+39) round out the nine-team field.
