Lady Raiders welcome Polishchuk to Scarlet & Black
June 29, 2023 | Women's Tennis
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's tennis head coach Adam Herendeen has announced the signing of Ball State transfer Mariya Polishchuk on Thursday afternoon.
The incoming senior from Moscow, Russia will join the Lady Raiders for her final season in the fall and is one of the top transfers in the country.
"We are thrilled that Masha has decided to finish her college career at Texas Tech," Herendeen said. "She is a perfect fit for what we were looking for to complete our team for next year."
Polishchuk has led the Ball State Cardinals to three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths, two Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament wins and two regular-season MAC championships.
In her three seasons at Ball State, the Cardinals went 63-13 overall and 30-4 in conference play. Polishchuk has a decorated career with the Cardinals after being named the MAC Player of the Year in 2023 when she posted a 9-1 singles record and 6-3 doubles record in league play.
Playing the past season primarily at the top of the lineup in singles and at line two in doubles, Polishchuk went 20-1 in overall dual singles matches, with an 18-1 record at court one, while going 12-5 overall and 10-2 in dual doubles matches at court two.
She also earned the MAC Tournament MVP honor after leading the Cardinals to the program's third tournament championship in history with a victory over top-seeded Toledo in the finals. Over her career, Polishchuk tallied an overall 68-14 record in singles and a 47-23 record in doubles.
A two-time All-MAC First Team member (2022-23) and All-MAC Second Team selection in 2021, Polishchuk got things done on and off the courts after receiving Academic All-MAC (2022-23) and ITA Scholar-Athlete (2022) accolades, and most recently, made the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team this past season.
"The experience that Masha gained, playing at the top of the lineup for an NCAA tournament team, is going to help her make a big impact as a Red Raider right away," Herendeen added.
