Marzilio and Scott advance to US AM match play

The Red Raiders two representatives both made the 64-player cut before match play
CHERRY HILLS, Colo. – Both Texas Tech junior Calum Scott and senior Vicente Marzilio have advanced to the match play portion of the 123rd edition of the US Amateur Championship hosted by the USGA at Cherry Hills and Colorado Golf Club.

Heading into Tuesday after a strong 71 at the Colorado Golf Club, Scott valuted into a tie for 10th after recording a second round 68. The junior made five birdies and just one bogey during his second round closing his day with three-straight birdies on 14-16.

The Red Raiders other representative, Marziilio, also shot better at Cherry Hills Tuesday, recording a round of 71 to finish the two days at even par.

Both Scott and Marzilio will move on to Wednesday's Round of 64 match play. The 64 advancing players will be seeded and split into 32 head-to-head matches beginning at 10 a.m. (CT).
Marzilio will face Connor Jones of Colorado State at 11 a.m. (CT) on Wednesday with Scott clashing with Bastien Amat of New Mexico at 1 p.m. (CT).Â

The 32 winners on Wednesday will advance to Thursday's Round of 32 matches that begin at 9 a.m. (CT) with the 16 winners advancing to the Round of 16 later that day.

With the grueling 36 hole day behind them, the eight winners will form the Quarterfinals which will begin at 3:30 p.m. (CT) on Friday. The Semifinals are scheduled for 12 p.m. on Saturday with the two golfers left standing set to square off in a 36 hole match on Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. (CT).

The afternoon portion of tomorrows proceedings will appear on both Peacock (4-5 CT) and the Golf Channel (5-7 CT).
