August 31, 2023 | Women's Tennis
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders women's tennis team has released its schedule for the 2023-24 season, as announced by head coach Adam Herendeen.
"We are excited to get started competing as a team," Herendeen said. "This team has a lot of depth and we are looking forward to using the fall to get battle tested for the spring. I believe this challenging schedule is just what our team needs to continue to improve and be playing our best tennis in the postseason."
The season begins with the Red Raiders participating in two-consecutive road tournaments with the ACU Invitational from Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in Abilene followed by the ITA All-American Championships from Sept. 30-Oct. 8 in Cary, N.C.
After this, the Lady Raiders will compete at the ITA Texas Regional tournament in Waco, Texas on Oct. 12-16. Then, any qualifying Lady Raiders will head to San Diego for the ITA Fall National Championships taking place on Nov. 1-5.
Tech will travel to two more tournaments in the fall with the Texas A&M Invitational on Nov. 3-5, then close 2023 out with the Big 12 Fall Championships on Nov. 10-12 in Waco.
Following the fall season, fans can follow the Red Raiders through a series of both home and away matches during the spring as the schedule features nine home and 16 away matchups.
The spring season starts with the Lady Raiders facing the Liberty Lady Flames at the McLeod Tennis Center on Jan. 21. Next, Tech heads to Charlottesville, Va., for ITA Kickoff Weekend. Their first challenge will be against the Virginia Cavaliers on Jan. 26, followed by a match against either Georgia Tech or Wisconsin the following day.
The Lady Raiders travel to Alabama for a doubleheader as they compete against the Auburn Tigers at 11 a.m. and then Jacksonville State at 3:30 p.m., both on Feb. 4. If the Lady Raiders qualify, their next stop will be in Seattle at the ITA National Indoor Championships taking place from Feb. 9-12.
Just like last season, Tech will compete against Arizona, UC-Santa Barbara and Kansas from Feb. 16-17 in Santa Barbara, Calif. The following week, the Lady Raiders head to Montgomery, Ala., for the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic from Feb. 23-24.
Tech begins Big 12 play with a match at Houston on Feb. 29, then a match against UCF in Orlando on March 2.
The next opportunity to support the Lady Raiders at home is with three-straight matches. First, Tech welcomes Oklahoma State on March 7, then plays Kansas State at The McLeod on March 9. The following day, Tech faces UT Arlington in Lubbock on March 10.
The Lady Raiders are back on the road against Kansas on March 14 and Iowa State on March 16. Then continue play at home with a conference match against BYU on March 23.
