Antoine Andrews registered Tech’s single event win Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up its first road trip of the season concluding the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite Saturday afternoon competing in the sprints and pole vault competitions.

Antoine Andrews has a nice day at the office as he took home the 60m hurdles title. In the prelims, the Bahamian posted a time of 7.83 before going 7.66 in the finals. It's the sophomore's second-best time of the year as he went 7.62 last week at the Corky Classic. Andrews also made his season-debut in the 60m sprint, running a 6.72 – qualified for the finals but did not participate.

Caleb Dean and Andrews entered the weekend 1-3 in the nation when it comes to the 60m hurdles times. Dean only ran the 60m Saturday, registering a time of 6.82 – season event opener. Meanwhile, Don'Dre Swint posted a time of 6.76.

Staying with the sprints, All-American Rosemary Chukwuma made her highly anticipated opener in the 60m sprint. Chukwuma opened up running a 7.28 before posting a 7.22 in the finals, good for second place.

Naomi Krebs paced the women's 60m hurdles crew walking away in second with a season-best 8.20. Destiny Smith, a transfer from Houston, made her Red Raider debut ultimately placing eighth in the finals (8.79).

Samuel Alves opened his 2024 season running in the 60m hurdles as he posted prelims time of 8.30. Magi' Harris secured a personal best in the 400m going 57.29.

In the men's pole vault, Carson Dittel and Eric Grassel represented TTU. Dittel cleared 5.02m (16-5.50), while Grassel cleared 4.87m (15-11.75).
