Red Raiders are top-5 going into postseason

NEW ORLEANS, La. – In the week five rankings released by the USTFCCCA Monday afternoon, the men dropped from the No. 1 spot for the first time this season to No. 2, while the women's team stayed at No. 5 for a second-straight week.

Texas Tech did not compete this weekend, but Northern Arizona did and registered the No. 1 DMR time in the country (9:17.43) and the No. 4 weight throw mark (22.93m | 75-2 ¾) to leap the Tech men in the rankings.

Meanwhile, the TTU women took over as the No. 1 Big 12 team in the rankings staying at No. 4 – Oklahoma State, who was No. 4 last week, dropped four spots.

Overall, the men still hold two national leading marks in the 60m sprint with Terrence Jones (6.47) and Caleb Dean in the 60m hurdles (7.55). They boast seven top-5 national marks and 10 national top-10 marks.

On the women's side, holds one national leading mark with Ruta Lasmane's triple jump of 13.97m (45-10). Overall, they have registered five top-5 national marks and six top-10 national marks.

Texas Tech will serve as host to the 2024 Big 12 Indoor Championships this weekend, Feb. 23-24, inside the Sports Performance Center. It will mark the second-straight year Tech welcomes its conference members for the championships.
