March 06, 2024 | Men's Golf
LUBBOCK, Texas — Following Tuesday's Cabo Collegiate runner-up finish, the Texas Tech men's golf team moved to No. 5 in the national rankings on Wednesday. Rankings are provided weekly by Clippd, the official NCAA golf scoring and ranking service.
The Red Raiders are surging down the stretch playing some of its best golf of the season. Tech most recently earned a second-place finish in a 15-team Cabo Collegiate field versus eight different Top 25 teams. The tournament prior, Tech won its first tournament title of the season at The Prestige in Southern California among a field of 20.
In the totality of the spring season's four events, the Red Raiders have carded under-par team scores in 10 of 12 rounds, including eight sub-par rounds over its last nine rounds played.Â
In that stretch, Texas Tech has moved from No. 21, to No. 11 and on to No. 5 over the last three polls. The Red Raiders entered the spring season in the Jan. 24 rankings at No. 21.Â
Key components to the Red Raiders' success have been Calum Scott, Matthew Comegys and Tyran Snyders, who sit inside the Top 50 in the most recent individual player rankings. Scott checks in at No. 48, Comegys at No. 34 and Snyders at No. 18.
The Red Raiders have three regular season tournaments remaining on the spring schedule. They return to action March 18-19 at the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas.Â
