No. 14 Tech wraps up day one of Ben Hogan Collegiate

FORT WORTH, Texas – Seniors Calum Scott and Charlie DeLong led the Red Raiders in both rounds played on Monday at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club. Scott and DeLong both fired an even-par 70 in each of their rounds as teams played 36 holes to start play. The duo sits tied for 11th in a field of 75 heading into Tuesday's final round.

Scott had his best performance so far this season, his opening round included two birdies on the front nine, coupled with a pair of bogeys. He tallied a par on all nine holes on the back side to close round one for his 70 (E). Scott went pin-seeking again on the front nine, this time with three birdies on his second go-around. He finished his second round on the front nine 2-under before shooting 2-over on the back nine for his second 70 (E).
DeLong found success on the back nine in each of his two rounds, going bogey-free with three birdies over those 18 holes. On the flip side, he was 3-over on the front nine over the two rounds combined, which amounted to his steady pair of even-par 70's.Â

True freshman Sean Keeling completed his first two rounds as a Red Raider on Monday. Keeling made improvements between the rounds as he fired an 8-over-par 78 in the first and a 6-over-par 76 in the second round to close Monday. The freshman currently sits in a tie for 72nd. His freshman counterpart Connor Graham, and sophomore Ben Gregg, also made improvements between rounds. Graham shot a 7-over-par 77 followed by a 2-over-par 72, including two birdies in the second round to finish the day in 65th place. Gregg also scored a 7-over-par 77 in the first round and improved to a 4-over-par 74 to finish the first two rounds in a tie for 69th.

Overall, Texas Tech is in 13th place at 20-over-par (580). The Red Raiders lead Wake Forest by two strokes and trail Oregon by one stroke.

The Red Raiders will look to bounce back in round three, starting at 9:30 a.m. CT, with Sean Keeling teeing off first for the team.
