Lady Raiders ranked No. 13 in latest ITA poll

LUBBOCK, Texas – Earning their highest national team ranking in seven years, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders check in at No. 13 in the latest ITA rankings as announced by the organization on Thursday morning.
In 2018, the Lady Raiders ended the year with a No. 9 ranking as a team. Now seven years later, Texas Tech is almost in the top-10 after being ranked 13 in the poll. Boasting a 7-1 nonconference record so far, the Lady Raiders are set to open Big 12 play at home next Friday on February 28 against the Kansas Jayhawks.
The Lady Raiders opened their season with sweeps over Xavier, 7-0, and Abilene Christian, 6-0. Their one loss came at No. 18 Tennessee, who qualified for the ITA National Indoor Championships, by a 3-4 score back on January 24. Tech would follow this close loss with a top-10 win over No. 10-ranked NC State, 4-3, the next day.
The Lady Raiders also added a 4-3 victory at Oregon before sweeping Portland, 4-0. Tech picked up another top-25 win, this time against No. 24 UC Santa Barbara, 4-3, before closing out its nonconference slate with a 4-0 win at Arizona.
Two Lady Raiders lead the team in dual singles wins with six apiece in Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy. Dmitrichenko, who was just named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, boasts one of the team's two perfect dual singles records of the season along with Jermine Sherif, who is 2-0 so far. Both Mariia Hlahola and Andreea Lila are just behind with four dual wins each.
In dual doubles, the No. 5-ranked duo of Hlahola and Avelina Sayfetdinova lead the way with a 5-1 record, followed by the tandem of No. 76-ranked Sherif and Lila with a 4-2 record. Going a perfect 3-0 on the season are the pairing of Dmitrichneko and Murphy at court two.
