
No. 13 Lady Raiders earn 4-2 win over Cyclones

LUBBOCK, Texas – Behind three comeback singles wins, the No. 13 Texas Tech Lady Raiders took down the No. 54 Iowa State Cyclones, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Texas Tech (9-1, 2-0 Big 12) began the match against Iowa State (7-3, 1-1 Big 12) by winning its seventh-consecutive doubles point. First at court three, No. 76 Andreea Lila and Jermine Sherif took on Suzanie Pretorius and Valeska San Martin. The Lady Raiders went down 0-1 in the first game, then won six straight to claim it, 6-1.
Clinching the point for the second match in a row was Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy at court two over Mari Paz Vilar and Julia Camblor. Tech went up 3-0 before giving up a game, then earned the next three games for the 6-1 win to clinch the point and lead.
The Cyclones were able to even the match at 1-all after Camblor defeated Mariia Hlahola at court two, 7-5, 6-1. Then, Lila gave Tech back the lead with a come-from-behind win at court four over Cristina Ramos. The Cyclone won the first set, 6-4. But Lila was able to win back-to-back sets by a couple of 6-1 scores to make it 2-1 in the match.
At court three, Dmitrichenko forced a third set against Vilar and won it to extend the lead to 3-1. Iowa State earned set one, 6-3. Then, Dmitrichenko came out hot in the next set, going ahead 3-1. Vilar came back to tie it at 3-3 before Dmitrichenko won three of the next four games for a 6-4 win. In the final set, Dmitrichenko won with a 6-0 bagel, saving three break points in the process at 5-0 to claim the victory.
No. 81-ranked Anna Supapitch Kuearum gave Iowa State its last point of the match after defeating Avelina Sayfetdinova at court one, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. However, the Lady Raiders took the match right after by a 4-2 score when Sherif beat San Martin at court six. Iowa State won the first set, 6-4, before Sherif dominated the next two sets, 6-2 and 6-2, to clinch the win for Texas Tech.
