Graham leads Texas Tech after 36

PALM CITY, Fla. – Freshman Connor Graham led the way for the Red Raiders in the first two rounds of the Valspar Intercollegiate Invitational played on Monday at Floridian National Golf Club. He fired a two-round score of 3-under-par 139 that included seven birdies on the par 71 championship course.

Graham was the only Red Raider to fire an under-par score in the first round on Monday. The freshman shot a 1-under-par 70 in the opening round and followed with an impressive 2-under-par 69 in the second round. He currently sits in a tie for 21st and will be playing for his fifth top-20 finish of his young career, and his fourth in a row, in the final round on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Ben Gregg bounced back after a slow start in the first round and joined Graham as one of three Red Raiders to shoot under par in the second round. Gregg finished his second round with a 3-under-par 68 after opening with a 2-over 73. His improvement shot him up the standings 29 places and into a tie for 27th. Gregg's second-round score on Monday was his 10th in the 60s of his collegiate career. Tim Wiedemeyer was the third Red Raider who owned a solid second round. He fired a 2-under-par 69 and is 2-over-par overall and tied for 50th place after 36 holes. He opened the first round with a 4-over-par 75.Â

As a team, Texas Tech finished Monday's first 36 holes in 14th out of the stacked field of 17 with a 3-over-par 571. The Red Raiders opened with an 8-over 292 but bounced back with a 5-under-par 279 in the second round.

The Red Raiders will start the third and final round of the Valspar Intercollegiate with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. CDT.
