Marlins Call-Up Patrick Monteverde

The lefty will become the 41st Red Raider to make his MLB debut
PHILADELPHIA – For the third time in less than two weeks, a Red Raider is headed to the show, as Patrick Monteverde was called up by the Miami Marlins on Saturday morning.
An eighth-round selection by the Marlins in the 2021 MLB Draft, Monteverde made 77 appearances and 67 starts during his MiLB career. The 2023 Marlins Minor League Pitcher of the year, Monteverde went 23-17 with 4.26 ERA and two saves during his MiLB career.
A transfer from Virginia Wesleyan University, Monteverde made 16 starts as a Red Raider going 7-4. The lefty struck out 101 batters in 86.1 innings including a pair of seven strikeout performances against North Carolina and Stanford in the NCAA Tournament.
The Pittsburgh native is active on Saturday afternoon for the Marlins ahead of their contest in Philadelphia against the Phillies.
