
No. 15 Texas Tech on the road this week

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 15 Texas Tech Lady Raiders remain on the road for two-consecutive matches this week. First, the Lady Raiders are in Morgantown, W.Va., to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers this Friday at 10 a.m. CT. Tech follows this match up with another at Cincinnati on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
Texas Tech (15-2, 8-1 Big 12) holds a perfect 11-0 all-time record against West Virginia, sweeping the Mountaineers in four-straight matches. Tech is 2-0 all-time against Cincinnati, playing for the first time in program history last season as the Lady Raiders beat the Bearcats in both the regular season and in the Big 12 Tournament by 4-0 scores.
On a four-match winning streak, the Lady Raiders are tied with UCF and Oklahoma State with only one loss in conference play. Picking up a sweep against Colorado last week, the Lady Raiders are led in dual singles wins by Yekaterina Dmitrichenko with 13. Dmitrichenko recently earned her first career ITA singles ranking at No. 124 as she remains a perfect 4-0 at court two. Just behind Dmitrichenko in dual singles wins are Hailey Murphy with 10 and Jermine Sherif with eight.
In dual doubles, the No. 4 duo of Mariia Hlahola and Avelina Sayfetdinova lead the team with 12 wins, all at court one. The pairing of Sherif and Lila are second on the team with 10 wins, all coming at court three. In addition, Dmitrichenko and Murphy total a 7-2 record at court two.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The West Virginia Mountaineers are 7-14 overall and 1-9 in Big 12 play. The Mountaineers lost to UCF last Sunday, but earned their first conference win of the season a few days before against Houston, 4-3. Leading West Virginia in dual singles wins is Julie Bousseau with seven, all coming at court two. Just behind her is Mille Haagensen with six at the top court. In dual doubles, the pairing of Laura Villanueva Morillo and Michaela Kucharova lead the team with a 7-3 record at the two spot.
The Cincinnati Bearcats are 7-10 overall and 1-9 in conference so far. The Bearcats are on a two-match losing streak after losing to Houston and UCF. They did, however, get a 4-2 win against Utah on March 22. Leading the way in dual singles is Sakurako Watanabe with nine wins, mostly at court five, followed by Zeynep Erman with eight wins at court one. In dual doubles, the tandem of Erman and Callie Flanagan lead the team with a 7-3 record at line three.
