April 05, 2025 | Men's Golf
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Texas Tech men's golf team raced out to a tie for second place after Saturday's first round of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational but fell into a tie for seventh after completing the second stretch of 18 holes at Forest Hills Golf Club. Scheduled for 36 holes on the opening day, the event will close on Sunday with final round tee times for the Red Raiders beginning at 8 a.m. EDT.
Heading into Sunday's third round, Charlie DeLong is atop the Red Raiders' individual leaderboard following a first round 3-under-par 69 and second round 3-over-par 75 on Saturday. The senior is tied for 19th place with an even-par 144. Should he hold on to his position, DeLong would earn his third Top 20 finish of the season.
Calum Scott is second behind DeLong. Scott is tied for 24th after 36 holes thanks to a 1-under-par 71 in the second round after a 3-over 75 to begin the tournament. Scott's second round was fueled by a back nine that consisted of bogey-free golf and three birdies. Scott will seek his second-straight Top 20 finish on Sunday after securing his first Top 20 finish of the season last time out.
Scott owned the Red Raiders' sole under-par round in the second round as Texas Tech registered a 6-over-par 294 team round that dropped the squad five positions. Tech will look to bounce back with a round similar to its opening round 5-under-par 283 in Sunday's final round as it enters 14 shots back of the lead.
