Wiedemeyer earns top 10 at Ben Hogan Collegiate
September 30, 2025 | Men's Golf
FORT WORTH, Texas — One week removed from his first collegiate victory, Texas Tech men's golf junior Tim Wiedemeyer continued his strong play with a tie-for-6th at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Tuesday at Colonial Country Club. It was a field of 75 golfers this week that included 13 Top 25 teams with participating teams' rosters that included 10 individuals ranked among the top 25 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), and eight of the top nine players in the PGA TOUR University Rankings.
Wiedemeyer was in contention to win through 36 holes, just two shots off Graham's co-leading pace, but could not convert opportunities on the back nine on Tuesday. A 1-under-par start through eight holes was stifled by bogeys on holes No. 9, 15, and 16 to post a 2-over-par final round of 72. He finished the week with rounds of 68, 70, and 72 to post an even par score for the week, just one shot out of what finished as a five-way playoff for individual medalist honors.
Â
36-hole co-leader Graham could not keep the same pace on the final round. After holing a birdie at the par-5 opening hole, Graham made six bogeys before picking up a shot on hole No. 15. A double bogey on hole No. 18 ended his chances at joining a playoff, carding a 6-over-par round of 76. The Scotsman ended his week with rounds of 67, 69, and 76. Despite the tough finish, Graham's tie-for-13th at 2-over-par was his third consecutive top-15 finish this season.
Â
Junior Adam Bresnu was five shots back of the lead heading into Tuesday's final round. However, he could not get any momentum going in his final round, carding two back-nine bogeys to 16 pars. Rounds of 66, 75, and 72 earned Bresnu a tie-for-17th finish, one shot off Graham. Similar to Graham, the finish was Bresnu's third consecutive top-20.
Â
No. 14 North Carolina, No. 8 Virginia, No. 6 Vanderbilt, and No. 5 Texas all shared co-champion honors at 10-over-par in an event that did not have a team playoff. The top spot was six shots better than the Red Raiders' finish alongside No. 1 Auburn at 16-over-par, who both tied for eighth place in the event. The Red Raiders' final round 14-over-par was one shot off the highest score carded in the third round (TCU, +15), which dropped Texas Tech from its 36-hole second-place spot, down to tied for eighth.
Â
Georgia Tech's Albert Hansson birdied the first playoff hole to emerge from the five-way playoff to win the individual honors.
Â
The Red Raiders will close out their fall schedule at The Clerico at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Oct. 27-28.
