Tech heads to Stephenville to face the Texans on Tuesday evening
LUBBOCK, Texas – Fresh off another Big 12 sweep, No. 3 Texas Tech (30-2, 8-1) will head to Stephenville, Texas to take on Tarleton State (21-13) tomorrow at 5 p.m. on ESPN+ at the Tarleton State Softball Complex.
This will be the first of a home-and-home series with the Texans as they will face off again on April 28th in Lubbock before the Baylor series.
The Red Raiders are riding a five-game win streak while Tarleton has won three of its last four after playing back-to-back doubleheaders against Rhode Island this past weekend. The Red Raiders are 3-1 all-time against the Texans but haven't played them since 2022.
Quick Hits:
Mihyia Davis is one of the most valuable players in the country and has been that way her whole career. Among active players she ranks first in hits (304), at-bats (748) and stolen bases (128). She also ranks third in runs (207) and third in games played (220). She is the only active player with 300 hits.
NiJaree Canady continues to make history as she is the first Red Raider to throw three no-hitters in their career. The reigning National Pitcher of the Year is 27 K's away from 1,000 for her career and is one of just two active players to have over 900 strikeouts. Canady had another good outing against No. 24/25 UCF on Friday as struck out eight batters Tech's 4-3 win.
Kaitlyn "KT" Terry has been arguably the team's best player through the first 32 games of the season. She leads the team with a .568 batting average, which is also fourth best in the country, and also has a 1.79 ERA and a perfect 12-0 record. Terry has found her role in the two-hole for Tech's offense.
Gerry Glasco is now 62-0 in conference series dating back to his time at Louisiana. The head coach has lost the first game of a series 10 times and has comeback to win each time. Tech looked to be in jeopardy of breaking that streak after a tough loss to Arizona in game one, but retaliated in a big way with back-to-back run-rule victories.
Tech has been a very well-rounded team this season. When the bats aren't working, the pitching is and vice versa. Against UCF, Tech hit just .250 as a team, but had a collective ERA of 1.05 and had only one error in the field all weekend.
