The Sept. 26 non-conference finale versus Sam Houston reached sellout status Thursday
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech is still more than two months from its season opener and already has its first sellout of the 2026 campaign. The athletics department announced Thursday it has sold out of its primary ticket inventory for the Sept. 26 non-conference finale against Sam Houston inside Jones AT&T Stadium.
Capacity crowds have become the norm for the Red Raiders since the start of the 2025 season as Texas Tech boasted a sellout attendance figure of 60,229 fans in six of seven games en route to its first Big 12 Conference title. Texas Tech averaged 60,143 fans inside Jones AT&T Stadium last season, which easily snapped the previous school record of 58,934 that was set over six games in 2014.
Sam Houston will serve as Texas Tech's annual Agriculture Game opponent as part of its official game theme schedule that was announced earlier Thursday. Texas Tech will also host Parents Weekend on campus that same weekend as well as its Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor inductions for the 2026 class that will be announced later this summer.
Tickets continue to move at a high pace for Texas Tech's six other remaining home games against the likes of Abilene Christian on Sept. 5, Houston on Sept. 18, Arizona State on Oct. 17, Arizona on Oct. 31, West Virginia on Nov. 7 and then the Thanksgiving Night showdown with TCU on Nov. 26.
Tickets for each of those six home dates can be purchased online at TexasTech.com or via 806-742-TECH. Once a game has been moved to sellout status such as Sam Houston, fans are encouraged to utilize SeatGeek, the official secondary ticket provider of the athletics department.
The kickoff time and television designation for the Sam Houston State game will be announced on either a 6-day or 12-day window by the Big 12's television partners FOX, ESPN and TNT.
